There was a season in my life where I thought balance meant doing everything, everywhere, all the time - flawlessly. Career booming. Friendships thriving. Gym routine consistent. Prayers deep. Skin clear. Emails answered.
Spoiler: I crashed. With moisturised skin, yes. But I crashed.
Because no matter how well you plan, journal, pray, or meal-prep your way through life, the truth is simple: you can have it all, just not all at once.
But we don’t like that truth. It offends our generation’s favourite fantasy - the idea that we can multitask our way into greatness. That we can glow up and grow up at the same time, without ever pausing for breath.
We forget that life moves in seasons. That timing isn’t just a logistical issue, it’s spiritual. It’s sacred. There’s a time to build, and a time to rest. A time to sow, and a time to chill, drink water and mind your business.
Sometimes the career is on fire and your social life is in ashes. Sometimes your prayer life is deep and your inbox is a war zone. Sometimes you're winning quietly, while your bank account hasn't caught the memo yet.
And that’s okay.
Maturity is realising that peace doesn’t come from having everything in place. It comes from knowing what matters right now. It’s giving your focus the dignity of presence. It’s saying yes to purpose and no to pressure.
So no, I can’t do it all today. But I can do this - with intention, with grace, with both feet on the ground. And maybe tomorrow, I’ll do a little more. Or a little less. But either way, I’ll be good.
Because the goal isn’t having it all at once.
The goal is not losing yourself while you try.
Yes to purpose. No to pressure.
Apt!
Sometimes, we want to start the journey and get to our destination the same moment we put the key in ignition.
