There’s a quiet power in living life on your own terms. In a world where everyone has a blueprint for how you should act, succeed, or even love, declaring, “I don’t operate by your playbook!” isn’t just rebellious—it’s liberating.
The thing about playbooks is that they’re often written by people who don’t fully understand your journey. They’re filled with generic rules, expectations, and milestones that don’t always align with who you are or what you want. Go to school, get a job, settle down, retire… but what if your calling doesn’t fit neatly into those pre-drawn lines? What if your timeline doesn’t match the calendar everyone else is flipping through?
The past few days, I’ve been spending time with family. It’s been a joyful, relaxing time—a necessary pause after a busy year of immense progress. Among the many meaningful conversations we had, one stood out: the importance of being intentional about operating by your own playbook—a playbook you define and piece together yourself. It’s striking how even good things—whether from well-meaning family, church, or other responsibilities—can unknowingly try to dictate the pace of your life. If you’re not careful, you’ll find yourself living by someone else’s rules, straying further from the unique path you’re meant to walk. Contending for your own playbook isn’t just a nice idea—it’s a fight worth engaging.
This is especially key as we step into a new year. It’s a natural reset point, when the noise of “new year, new me” can feel overwhelming. Everyone’s racing to set goals, follow trends, and hit milestones defined by someone else’s vision of success. But this year, pause. Reflect. Ask yourself: What do I really want? What matters to me? Let this be the year you ditch the borrowed playbooks and draft your own—one rooted in your values, passions, and unique journey.
Living outside the playbook means embracing risk, owning your decisions, and accepting that not everyone will understand your moves. It’s not always easy. There will be people who don’t get it, who criticise your choices, or who think you’re “doing it wrong.” But the truth is, you’re just doing you.
So, here’s to the ones who operate differently. The ones who choose to redefine success, chase unconventional dreams, and live by principles, not pressure. Keep going. After all, the best plays are the ones no one saw coming.
I’d love to invite you to our Life Mastery workshop on Saturday, 11th January 2025, from 10:30 AM in London. This event is all about connecting, sharing ideas, and equipping ourselves to make the most of the new year.
We’ll focus on building meaningful relationships, personal development, and getting started with property investing. It’s a chance to reflect, grow, and start crafting your personal playbook for success in 2025.
If this resonates with you, I’d love to see you there. Let’s learn, grow, and take bold steps toward our goals.
I’d come back to read this weekly!!!!!!
